Cody Hudson is Struggle, Inc.

The Chicago-based artist had designed board graphics for Burton, created record covers for Chocolate Industries, built out books for Also Known As, and done graphics the gangster way for the Marc Ecko line. But as much as his art work I admire is his initiative and drive to make it all happen, which I learned about through this interview at Fecal Face.READ.

Abcntmnded likes DUBLAB

I'm finishing up a profile on DUBLAB to run in the August issue of Future Snowboarding Magazine. Out of Los Angeles, DUBLAB is an internet radio station, and it's one of the best and longest-standing independent music broadcasters in the biz. To go with the piece, we're running an illustration created for DUBLAB by Abcntmnded, an artist and supporter of DUBLAB, also based in Los Angeles. Here's a taste below, or check out his website HERE.

Jazz Fever

It's playoff time. Let's do it for Stockton, boys.

Chinese Food in China

Right now, I'm working on a feature story from I a trip I took recently to China. Chinese food in China is nothing like Chinese food in the U.S. But then, I didn't eat at the California Beef Noodle King. And I'm sure it tastes just like Panda Express.

ALIFE Unknown

UPDATE: A while back, I posted a series of e-mail exchanges, with whom I assumed was someone representing NY-based company. As it went originally, **I was trying to track down an ALIFE x Kangol beanie that I had seen in Tokyo a couple months back, but didn't have contact for anybody at ALIFE. Below is my initial shot at trying to get a hold of somebody...***

So the story is I that I did get in touch with one of the heads, and here's the thing -- somebody owning the url www.alife.com is pawning themselves off as the same company you will find at www.alifenyc.com. When I spoke with Alife, I was assured that "these guys are motherfuckers." The real Alife has attempted to purchase, but these "motherfuckers won't sell."

**I was trying to track down an ALIFE x Kangol beanie that I had seen in Tokyo a couple months back, but didn't have contact for anybody at ALIFE. Below is my initial shot at trying to get a hold of somebody -- straight mysto style, these guys. I eventually made my way to whom I needed to make my way to, but damn, this is about as good as it gets.**

Hello,
The phone number I refer to is the one listed on rivingtonclub.com — 212-375-8128. The e-mail address on alife.com—the one I believe you’re referring to—is the same info address I’m writing to now. In other words, it was Professor Plum. He used the lead pipe. It was hidden in the Library! Hah!

My pleasure,
But, what phone number are you referring to?
All we have on our temporary page http://www.alife.com/ is an email link.
Thx,

Hey Music Maker,
Thanks for the tip! Can I get another: why does no one answer the phone# listed?
Mysteriously,
Tracy

Dearest information address,
I’m trying to track down some heads from ALIFE. I’m producing a limited edition product section for our next issue. I was in Tokyo a month or so back and saw the Kangol/ALIFE Googly eyes beanie. I’d like to include it in this piece. So, I guess what I’m asking, Mr. Anonymous email address, Could you make use of your special computer skills and channel this request to the proper person?

It's the new year and what better way to be inspired than a classic Calvin and Hobbes strip. Click on the image if you want to read it. It's aahhh so cute.

Wow, it really snowed last night! Isn't it wonderful?

Tokion Magazine Creativity Conference

The itinerary lists some cool-sounding, likely useful workshops. Though with only an hour for each panel, lecture or whatever smart title they bestow their session, I can't imagine the digestion of material much outweighs what some surely see as more a networking opportunity.

"The Magazine as an Art Form" and "Nightlife" are two of the workshops I'd be down to check out. If I lived in New York.
