Play-Doe

Kill him. They would do so. They certainly would. The realm of the visible should be compared to the prison dwelling, and the fire incited to the power of the sun.

If you interpret the upward journey and the contemplation of the things as the upward journey to the soul to the intelligible realm, you will grasp what I surmise, since you were keen to hear it.

This is some Plato Republic for you.

Jeff is down from LA, and he's reading this shit to me.

Whoa, That Last Post was Super Scary

I must have been going through a dark moment or having an "I was raised with Religion" pyscho-something something neurological something when I decided to post the crazy Jesus lady below. IT'S CAPS LOCK SCARY. But maybe it was staged for TV ratings? I had some friends pull off some pretty believable shit to get on Jerry Springer one time. But my point here is that I think we'd all be better off looking at Dita Von Teese's Tits.

Oh my...God? Do you believe in Jesus?

It's like Youtube 2007 blowout bash here at TEDO3---. But this one is REALLY worth your time. (Well, it's not that rad but it is an interesting if not totally fucking disturbing glance at religious fanatics.) It also tells us where we are socially, as this is the incontrovertible content that TV producers dream of: sensationalism to the extreme degree, in this case the raving mad holy lady. And no...I'm not a fan of Wife Swap, the ABC reality TV show from which the clip is taken. But would I have been pulled into this episode, had I been flipping through the tube at the time? You know it!

One Year Anniversary of Greatest Trade Show Party Ever

This was the best party, hands down, at the ASR show in San Diego last year. Vice and Analog put it down proper in Tijuana. It sounds weird, but I actually have an archive.

Bang Bang me Trouble Andrew

At least, that's what we're led to believe. But we all know he ain't touching that chick because his girl, Santogold, is just way too fucking cool. But this makes our dancing video vixen none the less hot. Trouble also flashes us his tats and shows off some of that seven bling.

Word on the street is that Trouble is looking for a synth player. The details of Jake leaving are vague at best, but it seems to be an amicable departure. Anyhoo, If that's your deal, you'd be smart to hit him up on his myspace.

Erotic Photography, Anyone?

The good peoples over at Frank put up a cool interview with photographer Ellen Stagg from the Frank151 blog. You'll want to check out her Stagg Street blog as well.

And FYI here's an example of good peoples from Frank151: Craig Wetherby

Getting Twisted Poolside in the OC

Ohhhhh, what a party last weekend...in steamy Orange County.

After a WeSC pool party got the kibosh, our group went next door to the Hilton. But after we were blamed for a concoction of fruit, liquid and unidentified powder exploding in a microwave, whilst pumping romantic jams on a hotel breakroom radio...it was leaving time.

So we went to a mexican restaurant bar. We lasted at least 40 minutes before getting tossed.

Then it was off to a shiny-shoe OC club, with most of us still in swimwear. Here I got caught by security...on the roof, alongside the man responsible for much of the evening's depravities. I won't disclose his name, but I will say he was wearing an amazing tie-dye blue unicorn shirt with matching sea foam denim.

We still made it in. But man, I was twisted.

Daft Punk Live @ 02 Wireless Festival in London

Over the top light shows and genre-defining electronic music make Daft Punk one of the best live shows today (well...shows of the summer blockbuster type..). I didn't catch them on their recent North American tour, but everyone I've spoken with says they killed it. Especially the Montreal show.

The Headsick Ladies of Comic-Con

Last weekend I covered Comic-Con for Complex Magazine. Above is a photo of Melodie Gore (left), a professional pin-up girl. Not only is she a super creative artist type, she's also down to bare it all, Penthouse style.

Melodie was at Comic-Con to promote Headsick, a controversial gore/horror porn outfit. Like, really fucking hardcore, but watch the trailor if you want: Headsick Girls. Just don't say I didn't warn you -- It's pretty much the gnarliest shit I've ever seen (I couldn't watch the whole thing), and even the most extreme porn companies are avoiding association with them.

God bless our constitutional freedoms and all the perverse, fantasy role-playing women in this world.

Levis Button Rings - Limited Japan Release.

A while back, Levis put out these diamond encrusted rings. The bling was overkill and they felt like a weird fit with the brand's image. I tried to find a photo of them, but bottom line, I wasn't backing 'em.

But these beauties, modeled after the classic Levis Vintage button, I am backing. Not that I would actually buy one (I might), but they are available in gold and sterling silver and for sale only in Japan. Levis Vintage Japan

At Present ::::: Feeling the Heat

Fuck.

Sunday night.

Need to get some work done.

Not getting any work done.

Blowing it.

Help.

Todd, Where You At?

This is my boy Todd. One of the first magazine heads I ever met. Never afraid to throw down for a glossy, and always seemed to know what was crackin'. From LA to OC to SF, we've done it up many a time over the years. I got much love for this guy, but it's a been a while.

G.I. JOE PSAs by Fensler Films

Oh man, these are so good. You can watch about 10 from this youtube link here. I'm claiming "Computer" as my favorite.

After a little digging, I found these were done by Eric Fensler of Fensler Film way back in 2004. There are 25 in total, all in quicktime files on his site, along with some other work he's done. I found this pollen-sniffing image on his updates page.

And Apparently, this dude is an ardent cat lover, too. The photo gallery on the Fensler Film site is dedicated entirely to this exotic siamese. Uh...sweet.

Hey, Good Looking

Feeling like a million bucks after my July 4th crusade. I ended up meeting some friends for a late morning surf sesh near Wind and Sea in La Jolla, Ca, and then rode bikes down the boardwalk toward Mission Bay. We had a pretty solid gang.

So many sluts. So many drunk dudes. It was a true celebration of the American lifestyle, San Diego style.

Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons: The OG War of Terror

Captain Scarlet is a science fiction TV show that aired in the late 1960s. The characters were built using a type of puppetry known as Supermarionation. It was created by Sylvia and Gerry Anderson, best known for their Thunderbirds series, which also used Supermarionation. Not that I'm an animation expert; just looked it up on Wikipedia. Go there for the full storyline. It involves a mission to Mars in 2068. The Mysterons declare a war of terror against Earth—world leaders, major cities, industrial and defense establishments.

Cool shit if you're bored and into connecting current social and political topics to the past.

I discovered Captain Scarlet from my good friend Mike Fleury. He has the video below on his Myspace Humanian Page. Mike's a nice guy. You should send him a message and tell him you like 1960s Supermarionation. Here is Mike looking dangerous:

The video features the original theme song of Captain Scarlett and the Mysterons, mixed to some action from the sci-fi series. It's fun to watch, oh, once. At least.

Cody Hudson is Struggle, Inc.

The Chicago-based artist had designed board graphics for Burton, created record covers for Chocolate Industries, built out books for Also Known As, and done graphics the gangster way for the Marc Ecko line. But as much as his art work I admire is his initiative and drive to make it all happen, which I learned about through this interview at Fecal Face.READ.

Abcntmnded likes DUBLAB

I'm finishing up a profile on DUBLAB to run in the August issue of Future Snowboarding Magazine. Out of Los Angeles, DUBLAB is an internet radio station, and it's one of the best and longest-standing independent music broadcasters in the biz. To go with the piece, we're running an illustration created for DUBLAB by Abcntmnded, an artist and supporter of DUBLAB, also based in Los Angeles. Here's a taste below, or check out his website HERE.
